Requesting advice.
I've got two cats, had them for about 2 years and they got along perfectly fine. Two nights ago, something happened (don't know what but I believe Luna tried to off Charlemagne by shoving him off the balcony that's two stories above my basment stairs), and now they are fighting. I mean seriously fighting. Charlemagne has taken refuge under the bed in the guest bedroom and Luna is driving me up the fricking wall. She won't let him out of the guestroom to even eat (much less go to the litter box) and she sits outside my bedroom door howling all night long. Considering I don't get enough sleep as it is, I'm about ready to commit homicide. I like the cat, but I'm ready to get rid of her because it doesn't look like there's any improvement in the situation between her and Charlemagne.
Any suggestions? Otherwise, I'm going to send her to a shelter just so I can sleep.

My mom fell off the roof yesterday and is currently in the hospital with two broken legs and a shattered left arm. She is being taken into surgery right now. I really do. They're stupid...and only good for eating. I left the farm to get away from cows and yet, how do I end up spending my evening? Helping my neighbor chase his cows. Boots. Kinky boots. I'm bummed. My partner in crime just left for Mississippi, and I don't get to go. Granted, this means that I do get to sleep for the next month, but...really...there's just something so soothing about big desiel engines. I was really looking forward to going. :( All right, people. Listen up. I'm tired of avoiding the questions "When are you coming back to Blacksburg?" and "When are you coming back to Wesley?" Well, the answer to the first one is when I'm not so busy, which probably won't be till next year and I will tell people when I'm coming. And to the second? After tons of soul-searching and prayer, I've finally recieved the answer of what I'm supposed to do with my life. Like all the important decisions I've made, this wasn't one that I came to lightly, but it also wasn't one that I consciously arrived at the conclusion - starting at point A and summarily arriving at point B. I was just leaning over the Repeat and Final FMIs for one of my Gwinville wells and *BAM* there it was. So now, I have a direction - it's the path that I need to figure out. (There are still six pies left, dear. *WINKS* ^_^) Here's a serious question (well, not really, but anyway...) brought on by an aim conversation gone slightly wrong. Due to recent questions about whether I am alive or not...yes, I still exist. I've just been too busy to post and nothing really exciting is going on in my life right now. Although, I do have a request...there's a semi-formal party coming up for which my presence has been requested. Would anyone be willing to go with me as a date? There will be dancing, and alcohol (come on, we're geologists...there's always alcohol), and I am a fairly easy person to get along with for one evening. I will also be willing to pay for gas to get you down here. Any takers? This will be up in my profile as well. I found the list I made when I was little of 50 things I wanted to do before I died. I've got about 5 left on it (granted, this was in the mind of a 12-year-old): So this is the month of craziness. Last weekend Mike came down to visit and we did what we always do - whatever we felt like! We went down to Gatlinburg and visited a cast-iron outlet, a Russel Stovers outlet, and the biggest knife store I've ever seen (my initial comment when I first saw it was, "Holy Shit, I've died and gone to Heaven!"). I got two samarai swords (not katanas, they are more S-shaped...does anyone know the actual names?) to add to my collection, but didn't buy the one I really wanted (priced at about $950) because I don't have a place to store really valuable swords yet. My boss has commented (and I agree with him on it) that before I get those, I need a vault. Next purchase I suppose. Although, I do have a small fortune invested in blades already. But, the practice swords and show blades can be hung on the new rack Mike got for me (THANK YOU!). And of course, thank you for the drill, too. I quite like my housewarming gift. :-D
You know those moments. We all have them. Charlemagne had one last night. He was feeling full of himself so decided he'd climb the fake tree I have in my apartment. You can probably see where this is going. He gets up to the top before I can catch him (and this tree is not anchored by-the-way, it's just a free-standing fake tree), then realizes that his perch is not as stable as he thought it was. He let out one loud, short "Mroew!" (what I believe is probably equivalent to a human "Oh, shit!") right before the tree toppled over. The poor little guy was tramatized - he took off like a bat-out-of-hell straight for the guest bathroom and hide in the far corner of his kitty carrier. Oh well, he hasn't gone near the tree again! So...I had an interesting weekend this weekend. My parents came to see me on Saturday morning and brought a cat. Dad apparently decided that I was too lonely in my apartment by myself, so took it upon himself to bring me a kitten. Unfortunately, it's one of those feral cats that he and mom have running wild around the farm, complete with 20 very sharp claws. On the plus side, he seems to like me and is already teaching himself to be pottytrained (I'm so proud of the little guy). On the downside, there goes my wooden coffee table and the beautiful quilt Momma made me. But I've already grown quite attached to him. He has the loudest motor; I just have to walk near him and he starts purring. And he loves to have under his chin and tummy rubbed. I picked him up yesterday evening and flopped backward on my sofa and set him on my tummy. Well, he gives me this very serious look, then flops over on his back with his legs sticking in the air, just like me. Then he loses his balance and rolls off my belly, off the sofa, and lands butt first on the floor. So cute, I couldn't stop laughing. So...now I've got a kitten. He's a longhaired gray with brilliant yellow eyes (and a bottle brush of a tail that sticks straight up in the air). Daddy named him Charlemagne. He seems to accept the name, but I told him he's gonna have to grow into it. Not to worry, I saw the others in the litter - he's gonna be as big as a Maine Coon. He'll manage. I keep him locked in the guest bathroom while I'm at work - as soon as he gets trained, he'll have the run of the apartment. I just worry about when I have to travel...he's so little, I don't want to leave him yet. Anyway, we'll see what happens. So, the trip to Mississippi has been postponed. Indefinitely. The reason being...no place to stay and no available 4WD to take us to the rig-site. Grrr. I really wanted to go too. Anyway, I asked if I can go down with Dwight the week after next when they are coring a well in his field. We'll see if I actually make it. If not, my boss's taking me to one of the sites in West Virginia when they're doing a frac job. That'll work. Speaking of my boss, he tried to run away from me this morning. Am I really that frightening? I tracked him down in Dwight's office and tried to ask him something but he did an evasive manuover (must have learned it from me!) and took off down the hall - literally! I was so surprised, I just stood there a moment, then took off after him and grabbed him by the shirt colar. Which is a bit of a stretch for me - he's about a foot taller then I am. He also told me I was a menace to society! That and a donut monster. Good grief, I'm getting a lot of flack this morning. I guess he has to get all his picking in before noon since he's leaving. And worse! Even the big boss is getting in on it. Double grrr! Insane. That's as good as word as any to describe my life at the moment. This weekend is actually free (ladies, want to do something?), but next week I am heading down to Mississippi to be onsite while we core a well. Anyway, nothing to report, just busy. The president is visiting this afternoon and tomorrow - finally get to meet the ellusive Whitehead. Oh, and I've promised my little sister I'd take her on a Mediterranian cruise when she graduates. I got a raise!!! You have no idea how estatic this makes me, especially since when my boss came in to talk to me, his face was so grave that I thought that he was going to fire me! When he told me he was giving me a raise, I must have looked so relieved he asked what was wrong - when I told him I thought he was going to fire me, he gave an evil laugh and said, "Not yet, give me time." (He was joking! I've already found out he has a really dry, rather dark sense of humor.) But, I'm excited. I'm getting paid more money to do a job I love. Go me! Yesterday was the August company picnic at Connie and Ken Wright's lakehouse. And, oh my goodness, it was soooo much fun. Geology people sure know how to have a good time. There was swiming, boating, jetskiing, and lots and lots of food. I even rode a jetski for the first time...and of course I have to be different and ride it backwards. We were pulling floats so I rode backwards to watch out for the people on the floats. It was still fun though - except when Ken took off without telling me that he was going to and I almost fell off. Mike told me when I got back that people were asking, "Who was that who screamed so loud? Did Theresa fall off?" and he's like, "No, that was Evelyn." Ohio (pronounced "O-hi-ah") - a rather flat place with interesting people and a lot of good food. That was my impression of Merrieta (sorry, can't spell it). I spent three days up there scanning logs and picking brains about coal tracks in West Virginia. Quite fun. I enjoyed Dwight's company immensely. Why can't I always get sent on trips with him? He's cool! Anyway, this is just a quick post saying that I have survived my trip and that I am going to be very busy in the next couple of months as we try to finish out our drilling program. This is an invitation to catch-me-if-you-can. My next assignment is off ot Mississippi (surprise visit for a coring program, just found out about it this morning), and then the big, long list of places that I wrote about last time. Oh, and ladies guess what? You know that really awesome guy that I met in Houston? Well, he's been emailing me for the past couple of days and is thinking of coming in to TN this weekend. Hmmmm...interesting. Anyway, that's the news. Okay...I got a call yesterday from my little sister saying that I needed to post...something. So here it is. In a nutshell, I am crazy busy. I won't be home (meaning Tennessee) for about the entire month of September (I will try to stay at least one weekend so I can see you, Mike). Starting next week, I'm spending a week in Ohio, then the weekend in Blacksburg, then I'm off to Morgantown, Columbia, Houston, Salt Lake City, Denver, back to Houston, then down to Rio in February. I have promised that I will come to Blacksburg as much as I can, probably in the next two weeks before people start moving back, to at least two different people. |
